.i want this; it feels neat

So my internet has been down for several days. Fuck you, Verizon Tech Support. You don't know shit. But that's neither here nor there now.

I actually managed to make a new layout for my seiftis shrine and have every intention of bringing it back from the dead. And also work on my many unfinished websites (Stiltzkin, Hades x Persephone...) It's funny how I only ever get inspired to work on this stuff when the impending cancellation rears its ugly head. But I'm sure I'll be renewing this domain. I actually rather like Shatterheart. And Fran was a badass in FFXII.

And I'm also debating switching from this livejournal for good. I signed up for another one, but I'm not sure if I'll make the switch or not. It wouldn't be a big deal, really, and I don't really think I'm "iselyn" anymore. Too much bad juju associated with this one. So I may know be forever known as [info]dancingsushi .

So look for me there if this one mysteriously vanishes. Or just, ya know, stops being updated for a crazy long time.

Writer's Block: Fright Show

'Tis the season for scary movies. Some rank The Evil Dead as the best horror film of all time. What is your favorite scary movie?

View 500 Answers

Well...interesting question. Evil Dead was quite excellent, though. The Thing scared the hell out of me. Not only was it terrifying as a horror movie, but it was an excellent portrayal of the weakness of man. 28 Days/Weeks Later was also freaking amazing. Just saw Quarantine recently. Didn't really scare me in the traditional sense - but the thought of being locked away with no hope of escape...THAT was scary.

Writer's Block: Unnecessary Objects

Oscar Wilde, a dandy’s dandy, once said that “we live in an age when unnecessary things are our only necessities.” What unnecessary possession can you not live without?

View 500 Answers

A few things, actually. These are in no particular order:

My BlackBerry Curve - I hate talking to people on the phone, but I text. A lot. And with this, I always have access to my e-mail and websites. I'm currently typing this from my phone.

My computer - I have my iTunes, Photoshop, all of my written work...more or less my entire creative life is saved on its hard drive. And at least a dozen back-up DVDs.

My iPod - I can't function without music. Whether I'm cleaning, studying or writing, it makes my life better.

My Nintento DS - I love to game, and the DS is my favorite system. It certainly helps pass the long hours at work.

So in short, I'm technology's bitch.

Writer's Block: I Love Lucy

I Love Lucy premiered today in 1951, and has been on the air ever since. Although Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s marriage didn’t last off the air, Lucy and Ricky are one of the great couples in television history. Who is your favorite TV couple?

View 500 Answers

So many to choose from...I suppose a list is in order.

Buffy x Spike (BtVS) - They had such great chemistry! The verbal and physical sparring, Spike's undying love for her...*swoon* People can be Buffy/Angel fans all they want, but he couldn't love her without a soul; Spike obviously could. Plus, he's effing hot.

Al x Peggy (Married With Children) - They were made for each other, as depressing as that thought must have been for them. They helped us realize that it's okay not to be all lovey-dovey in our relationships.

And well...I'm gonna have to go outside the realm of television, but...

Seifer x Quistis (FFVIII)
Mia x Diego (Phoenix Wright)
Jack x Sally (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Gomez x Morticia (Addams Family)

Writer's Block: A.A. Milne

Some people find Eeyore’s gloomy outlook charming. Others prefer the bouncy enthusiasm of Tigger. Who would you rather be trapped in an elevator with: Eeyore or Tigger?

View 501 Answers

I think I'd have to go with Eeyore. Tigger would be bouncing around the elevator, singing some inane song, and it wouldn't take long for me to strangle him. Eeyore probably wouldn't say or do much. And if he did, he's already incredibly depressed, so he probably wouldn't mind being dead. But I doubt it would come to that. Hed probably just mutter something like, "Well, I may as well just lay down to die now..." and curl up in one corner and mind his business.

Writer's Block: Personal Holidays

These days, there's a holiday for everything from punctuation to pie. If you could create your own holiday, what would it be and how would you celebrate?

View 500 Answers

Oh, if only. My holiday would "National Smartass At Work" Day. I work in customer service, and I've heard some downright idiotic things. Sometimes it's really hard not to say anything.

So I propose a day when we can all say exactly what we feel. Hell, think of Randal from Clerks and you have the idea.

Just one day a year to be Randal. With no consequences. Wouldn't that be lovely? Why, yes. Yes, it would.

.feeling charitable

I'm thinking about making a website where I offer up ringtones for people to download. Granted, they would be mp3 clips of songs to upload onto your phone, but still. Better than having to pay for them, especially sing most ringtones that you can buy suuuuck.

So, yay? Nay? Not really sure how I feel about it. It'd mostly be something to keep myself busy.

And I really don't want to go to work today. I hate work. It sucks.

And I'm fleshing out my iPod. He was looking kinda naked, with only 400-ish songs filling him up.

.everything looks like noodles in here

So I just spent $250 on the gold Zelda DS Lite. That was, sadly, the cheapest one.

And that new DSi? Fuck that. Nintendo, appeal to your gamer demographic. Don't try to make a camera/music player/gaming console on the side. Quit trying to be everything else. Stick with what you know. And you took away the GBA slot. Shame on you!

.damn unified germany; play on!

So I saw Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist last night. It was pretty good. Had I never read the book, I would probably rank it a little higher. Still, it was relatively solid, even with fuckface. I mean, Michael Cera. Seriously, I'm sick of seeing him. Say goodnight, superfly.

And I went on a book-buying spree last night. I spent almost $30. But I need new stuff to read. Sure, work is still busy, but it won't be forever. And I'll need to keep myself busy.

Oh, and I'll need to renew my domain soon. I'm just not sure if I wanna keep shatterheart.org or not. Still have a couple of months to figure it out. So no big.

Writer's Block: Work Clothes

Remember the bodysuit? Fashion designer Donna Karan, who changed the way career women dressed in the 1980s, turns 60 today. Office dress codes have relaxed since then, but every workplace has its own rules. What passes for appropriate where you work? Is there anything you can't wear to work?

Thankfully, my menial job is pretty laid back. We just can't wear tank tops, shorts and flip-flops. And since I never wear shorts and everything in my closet consists of jeans and t-shirts, I'm good. I do wear flip-flops from time to time, but they never seem to notice (or care) so why should I?

Besides, I hate my job. I've been suffering from brain atrophy since my first day.

.he taught me that it's cool to be fat

I got Kirby Super Star Ultra the other day. I love that pink ball of goo. It's been pretty fun, but I'm stuck on The Great Cave Offensive. Holy fuck, it's hard. But I need to finish it to unlock the last game, so *shrug*

And I'm debating between getting the metallic silver DS Lite or hunting down one of the super rare metallic rose Nintendogs DS lites on eBay. Sure, everyone wanted the gold Zelda DS, but pink isn't THAT popular. I like pink.

.i'm too picky to have five

So, I'm sure everyone is aware of that whole "celebrity five" bit. Ya know, where you pick five celebrities, and should the opportunity present itself, you'd be completely absolved from sleeping with them? Well, if you're in a relationship, that is.

I can't pick five. Most celebrities are annoying. And rather...unattractive. At least to me. And since I love to be elitist, I only have three. And so it shall remain. So, here they are, along with my reasons.

-Adam Duritz. Yeah, he's kinda cute. And he's dated some real bombshells. But really, I just think the post-coital conversation would be truly fantastic.

- Edward Norton. He's just vintage, man. Not only is he completely sexy, but he actually has a brain, so this would be for a mental and physical attraction.

- Henry Ian Cusick. Ahhh...Desmond Hume, you sexy beast. Okay, this one is just pure eye candy, I admit it. Plus the accent (whether real or not, pretty sure it is) is just swoon-worthy. Can you imagine having that voice whisper sweet nothings into your ear?

So, there they are. Mr. Cusick is in rotation right now, so he could get booted off. Only Adam and Ed are here to stay.

.life IS always better with a puppy

So, I bought Nintendogs (again) yesterday. I've had this urge to play it for the last month. I bought Lab and Friends, same version I had before. I have a pembroke welsh corgi named Raz. And two shiba inus named Ada and Leon. Ada is a dark-haired one and Leon is almost blonde-ish, naturally.

Oh, and my mom is pissed off at me. Haha. Of course she is threatening to have the dog I've had for 13 years put to sleep because she's moving. Well, fuck you, bitch. If that's the way you wanna be, then fine. Your reasoning is asinine and childishand one day, you will realize that, but I won't be around to care.

Writer's Block: Spirits

Do you believe in ghosts? Have you ever encountered one?

View 500 Answers

Yes, I do and yes, I have. Had a really bad experience with a ouija board the one and only time I used it. It was just speaking gibberish until I asked if it was a good spirit and the planchette almost ripped from my hands and pointed to no. Threw it across the room and haven't touched one since.

And then there was when I was taking pictures in the attic and caught something in the window. It looked like a man with a long beard. When I looked at the picture, I can distinctly see two eyes in the upper corner. Freaky.

I've always believed in spirits, but I've only recently been getting glimpses into the other side.

.sandy claws is bitchin' on HDTV

So, I ended up being forced to meet my half-brother today. He was actually pretty cool. Seems like a nice kid. Also met my uncle. He seems decent, too. So all in all, not nearly as bad as I was dreading.

And I got Nightmare Before Christmas on Blu-ray. Holy shit, it's like I'm truly watching it for the first time. The colors, the texture, the sound - holy fuck, it is amazing. So many little details I never noticed before. I mean, I never though HD or Blu-ray were anything special. Now I know different.

.i made a point to burn all of the photographs

So I got an e-mail from TFL.Org saying how I haven't updated my Choping FL in a small eternity and that it was on the troubles list. So I'll have to go home tonight and be all, "No updates. No one loves Eternal Sonata's smexy version of Chopin like I do." And hopefully that will be enough for the nazis.

And I got a nifty idea for a photomanip, but can I do it? No! My effing laptop is a little bitch and keeps shutting down on me every time I make a little progress. It's annoying in mecha-godzilla proprtions. I don't think I'm asking for much. I just wanna remember what it feels like to create something. Remember those days, Photoshop? We were so good together. Perfect. And now, what? That's all over? I'm not good enough for you anymore? Well, fuck you, Photoshop. I don't need you anymore.

Shhhh, baby. Don't cry. I didn't mean that. I still love you.

And Nightmare Before Christmas Blu-ray came out today. I want it. And I get paid on Friday. It is so mine. Oh, yes.

.music and paranoia

So I saw Counting Crows and Maroon 5 in Pittsburgh on Thursday night. I really just went for Counting Crows because I know next to nothing about Maroon 5, but they were actually quite excellent. Got some pretty good pictures. And I got a totally bitchin' CC shirt with a bunny on it. Not that I get the significance of the bunny, but still - awesome.

And my mom e-mailed me to tell me that I have a 19-year old half-brother who apparently wants to meet me. He's helping the sperm donor's brother work on a house next to my mom's. Apparently he saw me when I was down there a few days ago, thought I looked like my mother and started talking to her.

I would really rather not meet him. I mean, I've gone 24 years without so much as acknowledging anyone from his side of the family. And now all of a sudden, I have a brother? I mean, I guess it's kind of cool. I don't have much family left, after all.

But still, it's strange to even think about.

Writer's Block: Music and Moods

How do different types of music relate to your moods?

View 500 Answers

It isn't so much that I listen to certain genres of music or songs when I'm in a particular mood, but rather that my mood causes me to view whatever I happen to be listening to differently.

Writer's Block: Your Favorite Series: One Last Go Round

If you could pick any TV show that has been off the air to come back for one more season, which show would you pick and why?

Rocko's Modern Life. Why? Because it was effing hilarious. And it would only be good if they brought back the original cast and kept the same subtle humor that you don't understand as a child and then when you look back on it can finally say, "OMG, I can't believe that's on a kids cartoon!"

So basically, don't do what they did with Ren and Stimpy when they tried to bring it back. Just keep Rocko the same, kplzthnx.

Writer's Block: A Posthumous Oscar for Joker?

Do you think Heath Ledger deserves the Oscar for his role in the Dark Knight?

Submitted By [info]quinnpuddin

View 501 Answers

No, I don't. Granted, I think he did a fantastic job, but not Oscar-worthy. Besides, if he was alive, he probably wouldn't even be considered for an Oscar. The whole issue just really pisses me off. If he gets an Oscar for this, I will lose the tiny shred of respect I have left for humanity.
